A classic vintage of Barbour, this 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is fully ripe, offering pleasing blue and black-toned fruits on the nose and palate, including cassis, boysenberry and blackberry. On the palate, the wine is broad and full, seamlessly incorporating licorice, toasty espresso and moist pipe tobacco.
Harvested by hand on September 8, 2015, the grapes that go into Barbour Cabernet Sauvignon are from Jim's dry-farmed vineyard on the western benchlands of St. Helena. Cluster selection both in the vineyard and winery was exacting. The fruit was destemmed and sorted, then fermented on its skins for approximately three weeks prior to gently pressing.
Aged in French Oak barrels for 22 months, the wine shows the body, breadth of palate, and clarity of fruit expression at finish to ensure age-worthiness, yet an elegant, congenial tannin structure to enjoy at release.
The wine was bottled without fining or filtration on July 19, 2017.
